The Castle Uprising, 90 Years Later

Three shots were fired from the Riflemen’s Battalion No. 7, in the Castle of S. Jorge, starting another revolutionary movement against the Military Dictatorship. It was 9 p.m. on 20 July 1928, 90 years ago. It became known as the Castle Uprising or Castle Revolution but, despite its name, it was not limited to the capital, having moved troops and civilians in several other parts of the country.
