Bento de Jesus Caraça, mathematician, pedagogue, anti-fascist resistant and PCP militant. He was arrested by PIDE in 1946 and dismissed as full professor at the Higher Institute of Economic and Financial Sciences.
Two years later, victim of heart disease, he died in Lisbon, on June 25th.
