#Inthisday May 19, 1954, Catarina Eufémia was shot dead by Lieutenant Carrajola, of the National Republican Guard (GNR).

Peace, work and bread were the reason for her struggle, and on that day she participated in a strike in Alentejo for better wages.

Zeca Afonso immortalized her in “Cantar Alentejano”.
