History Memory and Truth

What history and what memory do we teach and tell our visitors at the Aljube Museum? How can a Memory Museum be, at the same time, a depository of sedimented knowledge, a place to obtain more knowledge and a vehicle for a socialization that is active in the construction of full citizenship? This was and will continue to be the objective of this teachers’ course in which, with some happiness, we could rely on the collaboration of Professora Maria José Moutinho Santos of the University of Porto to tell us about her selection of a documental legacy fundamental to the temporary exhibition that opened to the public in the Aljube: a collection of selected images from Portuguese prisons, since it was possible to do photographic registration.
