On April 26, 1974, relatives of the prisoners and people gathered near the Caxias Prison demanding the release of political prisoners. The joy of the reunion in freedom was immense!

On April 25, 1974, PIDE members refused to leave Peniche Prison, and only surrendered on the morning of the 26th. The concentration of people in fortaleza, the action of the MFA military and the decision made by the prisoners that either “all, or none left” were decisive so that, finally, in the early hours of April 27, everyone was released.
