National Union of Bank Workers of Lisbon

26 July 2024

#Inthisday, there were demonstrations by bank employees in downtown Lisbon. The National Union of Bank Workers in Lisbon releases a statement about the arrest of Daniel Cabrita. Police repression causes nine injuries. According to the CGTP, from 26 to 30 July 1971 (still under dictatorship), bank workers in Lisbon and Porto held large demonstrations and demanded the immediate release of Daniel Cabrita, union leader in the sector.

In April 2016, we collected the testimony of Daniel Cabrita who told us about the struggle, resistance and details of his arrest. You can watch the teaser on our Youtube channel or the full version on our Documentation Center.
