The first free elections, with universal suffrage, in Portugal took place on April 25th, 1975, at the time of the election of the Constituent Assembly.

The number of registered voters went from about 1.8 million to 6 million and 200,000, and were the most participated elections ever, with an abstention rate of only 8%.

The right to vote is an achievement of democracy.

January 24th, complying with all security rules, exercising the duty and right to vote, defending democracy!
