Francisco do Nascimento Esteves

Francisco Nascimento Esteves’ prison biography tells us that on the day he entered Aljube, on January 18, 1935, he was 20 years old. It is the information that appears in the field “Date of Birth”. He was born in Lisbon, where he worked as a metal turner. The next day, the 19th, he was present at the Military Court, having been sentenced to 20 months in prison. The reason is not mentioned. He was transferred to Peniche on February 19th, 1935 and released a year later. In May 1937, he was arrested again, arriving at Aljube on the 12th and leaving there, on June 5th of that year, to embark for the Penal Colony of Tarrafal. It is there that he dies, on January 21, 1938. He was 23 years old.
