Museu do Aljube Resistência e Liberdade

Guided tour with audio description (AD) of the Aljube Museum’s long-term exhibition Resistance and Freedom for blind and partially sighted people.

Each visit is presented by two people, an audio-describer and a mediator, who will present different parts and spaces of the museum with a view to greater accessibility for the visually impaired.

The museum’s long-term exhibition presents visitors on floor -1 with an archaeological display of remains found here. On floor 0, the memorial to political prisoners, the history of the building and the temporary exhibition “25 de Abril SEMPRE!”. On floor 1, the characterization of the Portuguese dictatorial regime (1926-1974), its means of repression and oppression (Censorship, the police and the political courts).
On Level 2, the resistance of the oppositions (semi-legal and clandestine), imprisonment, torture and solitary confinement.
On Level 3, the anti-colonial struggle and the independence movements, the overthrow of the dictatorship and April 25, 1974.
