Maria Luísa Costa Dias

Doctor, Catholic, born in Coimbra. She was born in October 15, 1916. Died on May 9, 1975. Was first arrested in 1953 and spent 7 years in prison and more than 20 years in hiding. Maria Luisa has belonged to the Women’s Democratic Movement since its foundation. She said in 1975: The emancipation of women is deeply linked with the victory over the forces of social backlash that oppose peace, peaceful coexistence between countries of different political regimes, cooperation between peoples.
