Come and discover the long term exhibition of the Aljube Museum Resistance and Freedom, and the stories of resistance to dictatorship in Portugal until the revolution of 25 April 1974.

The Museum’s long term exhibition presents visitors on floor -1 an archaeological exhibition with vestiges found here. On floor 0, the memorial in honour of political prisoners, the history of the building and the temporary exhibition “Adeus Pátria e Família”. On floor 1, the characterization of the Portuguese dictatorial regime (1926-1974), its means of repression and oppression (the Censorship, the police and the political courts).
On level 2, the resistance of oppositions (semi-legal and clandestine), imprisonment, torture, isolation camps.
On level 3, the anti-colonial struggle and the independent liberation movements, the overthrow of the dictatorship and the 25th of April 1974. On level 4, the temporary exhibition “The Holy Family”.
